Shaka "JUNGLE MEMOIR"
For Spring/Summer 2020 collection, brings all Shaka ladies’ impressive characteristics out to show their unique style of dressing. The clothing of this collection inspired by the book GingerNuthz that written by Michael Robert under the concept of “Jungle Memoir.” The story is about the Grace Coddington’s crucial life from the beginning of her life passing through her career path’s experience until her dream came true. The GingerNutz by Micahel Roberts uses the illustrations of an orangutan as a representative of Grace who thinks that “Fashion world is fun as if making someone believes enjoy and have fun with mixes and matches clothes and magical items together. Due to the orangutan lives in the tropical forest where there are plenty of trees, animals and flowers, which reflect to the color shades in this book, especially the Clementine orange – the special color for this collection, that is suitable for summer wear. The designs and details in this collection are selected from outstanding design in each important period of Grace’s lifespan, together with the viewpoint of the stylist that turn out to be a unique and contemporary style such as patchwork techniques from the 60s, bell-bottom pants, boot-cut trousers and draping from the 70s, following by the decoration in the draping details on a lady suit silhouette to make her look smarter in the 80s. Moreover, in “Jungle Memoir” Spring/Summer 2020 Collection also use the illustration in the book for pattern designs. All these designs are for Shaka ladies to wear their clothes happily and to enjoy dressing up as if they are in a magic box according to what Grace said.
